In many places in the world, being born with a disability often means a life of shame and isolation. It can even be a death sentence. Acacia Shade is a non profit organization dedicated to helping those affected with disabilities in Ghana. Acacia Shade implements inclusion programs, educates communities, and offers support and resources.
In November, Acacia Shade will be headed back to Ghana for a service trip. We would love for the children at Wasatch Elementary to be a part of this service. We are looking for the following donations that will bless the lives of many.
School Supplies:
Backpacks in good condition
Colored Pencils
Pencil sharpeners
Markers
Notebooks
Workbooks/Coloring Books
Soccer Balls/Pumps
Educational Tablets
Hygiene Kits:
Bar of Soap
Chapstick
Floss/sticks
Bandaids
Fingernail clippers
Hand sanitizer
Deodorant
Lotion
We are limited in luggage space and weight so we encourage monetary donations so we can purchase these items in Ghana and help support their economy. Please contact Hannah Bills with any questions 917-282-5876.
We would love to have a couple of students from each class in the older grades form a service committee this month to help us promote this opportunity. We will meet with them during lunch or another appointed time to get their ideas and work with them. We would love to take photos of the children with their efforts. We will also make sure to take photos of their donations being put to use in Ghana and share those with Wasatch.
