NewsWe are very excited to have the opportunity to participate in America’s Battle of the Books again this year!
If you are not familiar with the program, students will be divided into teams and will work together to read all the books on the program booklist. The school library has several copies of each book on the list for students to take turns reading. They can also check them out from the Provo City Library, Orem Library, Sora, or online. Students may read these books in any format – online or physical books – as well as listen to them as an audiobook.
Once teams are organized, students will work together to read all of the books on their assigned booklist to begin competing in January. Teams will compete against each other to answer questions about the books and earn points until we have one 3rd/4th-grade team and one 5th/6th-grade team for the school. Those two teams will then compete against other elementary schools in a district-level competition in April.
This program is so much fun and students at any reading level can participate because the books range from easy picture books to harder chapter books. Students get really into the competition and it helps a lot with their reading comprehension – as they have to understand the material in the books in order to answer the questions properly. We hope that you will all support and encourage your students to participate in this fun program this year!

Estamos muy contentos de ener la oportunidad de participar en la Batalla de los Libros de América de nuevo este año!
Los estudiantes se dividirán en equipos y rabajarán juntos para leer odos los libros de la lista de libros del programa.
Si no estáis familiarizados con el programa, los alumnos se dividirán en equipos y rabajarán juntos para leer odos los libros de la lista de libros del programa. La biblioteca del colegio iene varios ejemplares de cada libro de la lista para que los alumnos se u en para leerlos. También pueden sacarlos de la biblioteca de la ciudad de Provo, la biblioteca de Orem, Sora o en línea. Los estudiantes pueden leer estos libros en cualquier formato -en línea o libros físicos-, así como escucharlos en forma de audiolibro.
Una vez organizados los equipos, los estudiantes rabajarán juntos para leer odos los libros de su lista de libros asignados para empezar a competir en enero. Los equipos competirán entre sí para responder a preguntas sobre los libros y ganar puntos hasta que engamos un equipo de 3º/4º y otro de 5º/6º para el colegio. Esos dos equipos competirán entonces contra otros colegios de primaria en una competición a nivel de distrito en abril.

Este programa es muy divertido y pueden participar alumnos de cualquier nivel de lectura, ya que los libros van desde los más fáciles ilustrados hasta los más difíciles. Los alumnos se implican mucho en la competición y les ayuda mucho en su comprensión lectora, ya que ienen que entender el material de los libros para responder correctamente a las preguntas. Esperamos que odos apoyéis y animéis a vuestros alumnos a participar en este divertido programa este año.
