Battle of the Books Battles Start in January – How Can Your Student Prepare?
How can your student prepare for Battle of the Books?
Make sure your student has read or listened to their assigned books (ebook, library book, or audiobook)
Practice and memorize assigned books complete titles and authors full names
Search each assigned book online (ex: The One and Only Ivan Quiz) and go through quizzes you find. You can also search for quizzes on quizlet, quiziz).
Extra: Read some of the other books not assigned to you or read book jacket or online summaries to familiarize yourself with characters, plot, etc.
When will the Battle of the Books battles take place?
BATTLES (Will Take Place During Normal Class times)
- January 8-12—1st Round Battles
- January 22-26—2nd Round Battles
- January 29-February 2—3rd Round Battles
Grade Level Battles (Will take place in the library)
- February 12—3rd grade@ 11:15-11:45
- February 14—5th grade @ 9:20-9:50
- February 15—4th grade @ 11:00-11:30
- February 21—6th grade @ 9:20-9:50
Each Grade’s Top 2 Team Battles (will take place in the library)
- February 29—3rd/4th grade @ 10:30-11:00
- March 4th—5th/6th grade @ 11:15-11:45
Winning 3rd/4th and 5th/6th Teams vs teachers
- March 11—3/4 vs Teachers @ 1:15-1:45
- March 11—5/6 vs Teachers @ 2:00-2:30
District Battle of the Books @ PHS (winning team from 3/4 and 5/6 battle will attend)
- April 18 – 4:30 3/4 grade battle
- April 18 – 5:30 5/6 grade battle
End of the Year Battle of the Books Celebration
- April 19 – 3/4 grade Battle of the Books participants (11:00-12:35)
- April 22 – 5/6 grade Battle of the Books participants (11:30-12:40)
