Dear Wasatch Families,
What a memorable week for everyone! Thank you for your incredible support. We have moved the entire school, unpacked and welcomed students–all in a matter of days. I sincerely appreciate the tireless efforts of our teachers and staff in making the transition smooth and in continuing to plan instruction and meet the needs of students in the midst of a lot of change.
In the coming days, Wasatch Community Council will be meeting to discuss safe routes to the new building and review any areas that need improvement. One immediate area of concern is that cars are parking along the west side of Locust Lane to pick up students. We are asking that this area remain open to accommodate traffic moving along the street and ensure that students are not cutting across Locust Lane to get to the parked cars. In addition, if you have not discussed a safe route for your child to use, I’d ask that you review the excellent information posted on the school website. Our January Community Council meeting is this Friday at 8:40 in the conference room.
In looking at the weather forecast this week, we are anticipating very cold temperatures in the morning hours before school starts. Due to extremely cold weather, we will be having indoor supervision before school. We ask that students enter the building through the main entrance. They will be directed to sit outside their classrooms where we will have supervisors monitoring the hallways. Students should not go to the playground.
We are excited to announce that the week of January 27-31 we will be celebrating Chinese New Year. We invite parents to attend a Chinese New Year program on Friday, January 31, from 10:00-10:45. Students will be enjoying the same performance from 9:00-9:45. We ask that parents attend the performance designated for them to ensure that we have enough room in the gym and lunchroom.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we navigate new procedures and get used to a new facility. It is very rewarding working with the Wasatch community!
Sincerely,
Ruth Ann Snow, Principal
