Provo City School District

Wasatch Elementary School

Dear Wasatch Parents,

Thank you for your patience as we work out issues with our dismissal procedures. I hope the information I share here will provide some clarity and improve our procedures. I have also shared this information with all of our teachers and staff. As a reminder, bus routes will remain the same for the rest of the school year.

Beginning tomorrow afternoon, grade level teachers will sort students in their grade levels into three main groups and walk them outside to the following areas. This will help with student confusion and congestion at the end of the day.

Group 1 – North Side Exit

Students who walk or bike home north of the school; kindergarten students; siblings of kindergarten students; bus riders, and Boys and Girls Club students. *Students walking or biking home north of Wasatch have been instructed to use the sidewalk running along the side of the playground (pass the bus pick-up).

Group 2 – East Side Exit

Students who walk or bike home to the neighborhood above (east) of the school should be walked to the east playground gate for exit. Students will need to access the playground area to get bikes out and leave. Students are not allowed to stay after school to play on the playground because there is no supervision.

Group 3 – Front of the School

Students who do not have kindergarten siblings and students in grades 1st-6th who are picked up after school are in this group. In addition, students who are walking home toward the west or south side of the school should go to the front crosswalk and wait to be escorted across the crosswalk and exit using the stairs in the front. This group includes students whose parents are picking them up along the street (east side).

The following video xplains more clearly (I hope), carpool procedures:

Thank you so much for helping all of our students make it home safely and for your patience as we work through kinks and concerns.

Sincerely,

Ruth Ann Snow, Principal
