Wasatch Elementary School

Dear Wasatch Families,

In preparation for the move to the new school in mid-January, we would like to begin sharing the NEW safe routes plan that members of our community council and Provo city have spent months solidifying for students. Attached to this email is the new safe routes plan for you to review. In addition, members of the school community council will be located in the main foyer of Wasatch on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and Thursday from 2-7 pm to answer questions and help parents identify the safest route for the child to take to get to and from school.

Please contact the school office if you need assistance with the below map.

In addition, we want to share with parents that there are changes coming to procedures in the mornings when we move into the new building. These changes will begin the first day of school in the new building.

  • The front doors will open at 8:10 a.m. for students arriving early who need to eat breakfast.
  • Parents who drop off students earlier should know there will be no supervision and early drop-off is strongly discouraged.
  • All students will need to enter the school through the front doors in the morning if they are eating breakfast.
  • On inclement weather days, students will enter through the front doors and wait inside, sitting outside their classroom doors. Inclement weather means the temperature (with wind chill) is 24 degrees or colder or heavy rain and lightning.
  • Students who are not eating breakfast can play outside with supervision from 8:10-8:35 am.
  • When the bell rings at 8:35 am, students will line up outside in a designated spot and teachers will walk students to class.
  • The front doors of the school will be locked at 8:35 am and after that time parents will need to check-in through the front office any time they come to the school.
  • All parents, visitors and volunteers will need to come through the front entrance and check-in with a photo I.D. (driver’s license). This will be mandatory for all parents, visitors and volunteers.
  • If parents need to check out a student early, they will be required to come to the main office and check them out with a photo I.D.
  • We cannot allow parents to call the office and send their students outside to meet them.

In the coming days, I will be sharing more detailed information about the school schedule after winter break and as we prepare to make the big move! It is an exciting time to be a part of the Wasatch community!
