Wasatch Elementary School

Dear Wasatch Families,

It is a busy week and there are some important items I want to make you aware of in the coming days.

Monday, October 28

District SAFE ARRIVAL APP will be activated for parents to use to report absences. This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences. With SafeArrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3 convenient methods:

  1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
  2. Use the SafeArrival website, go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
  3. Call the toll-free number (888) 257-8239 to report an absence using the automated phone system.

These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time. We will continue to use our communication system’s automated notification system to contact parents whose child is absent when the absence was not reported in advance. The automated notification system will attempt to contact parents at multiple contact points until a reason is submitted for the absence.

Wednesday, October 30

All students will be sent home with the end of Term 1 Standards Report from their classroom teacher. Please check your child’s backpack for this information. Teachers are looking forward to discussing students’ growth and progress in a few weeks at Parent Teacher Conferences.

In addition, city engineers and our school community council will be meeting at 1:00 p.m. for a special meeting to review the new safe routes that have been planned for our new Wasatch location. The meeting will be held in Room 33.

Thursday, October 31

The annual Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. We will parade outside (weather permitting) in the grassy bowl area of the playground, south of the black top. As in years past, students are welcome to dress up for Halloween that day as long as their costume is not a distraction to learning. In addition, masks, fake weapons or costumes that cover a child’s face are not allowed at school or for the Halloween Parade.

Lastly, mark your calendars for Parent Teacher Conferences November 13-14, 2024. A separate email later next week will be sent out with information on how to schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,

Ruth Ann Snow, Principal
