Junior Achievement – Volunteers Needed
Hi Wasatch parents,
Junior Achievement (JA) is a non-profit organization that provides excellent financial literacy lessons and materials to Wasatch. They just need parent volunteers to teach these lessons to our kids! Parents don’t need to be financial experts to teach – the lessons include very basic finance and business concepts and will teach you anything you need to know along the way.
Here’s a video explaining what it’s like to teach JA lessons. More materials explaining the curriculum and approach are attached.
The commitment for a volunteer includes:
- Attend one 30-minute training by JA in February
- Coordinate with your class’s teacher on a schedule for you to teach the lessons. Many teachers prefer to schedule these during the last month of school.
- Teach 5-6 lessons that are 30-45 minutes in duration (depending on age of kids).
Feedback from last year’s parent volunteers on teaching the lessons: “It was a blast!” “It was so fun!” and “I’m a little sad [the lessons are] done.” It really is a fun and meaningful way to volunteer at Wasatch!
