Teacher Spotlight: Nicole Ku
Nicole Ku also teaches 5th grade at Wasatch elementary. She loves seeing kids overcome any challenges they encounter while learning and seeing their bright and happy faces they show when they cross their learning curves. Mrs. Ku wanted to be a police officer, a teacher, and a nurse when she was young. She chose to become a teacher, which she says is her favorite job besides being a mom. When asked to share something interesting about herself, Mrs. Ku shared the following experience: “In Taiwanese culture, we say that if you step on dog poop accidentally, you will have good luck and something good will happen to you. About twenty five years ago, after I finished the oral interview for a master’s program, I was applying and walked out of the campus to wait for a bus. I accidentally stepped on dog poop, and then I got accepted to the program. I put a lot of effort in to prepare myself to be qualified for the program, but I think a little extra luck always helps, right?” We are so happy Mrs. Ku chose teaching as her profession! When Mrs. Ku is not teaching, she enjoys watching movies, hiking, reading, and reading spiritual books. She likes a variety of food. Her favorite dessert is chocolate cake.
Parent Feedback
Mrs. Ku put in a lot of time and effort to get to know my 5th grader, and came up with multiple ways to encourage the students for better behavior.
Mrs. Ku is a wonderful teacher! She has helped my son grow so much in his Chinese. He feels proud of what he has learned, and she has helped him have great confidence. We are lucky to have had her for his teacher two times!
