Dear Parents, Today our students attended an assembly put on by NetSmartz, a Utah company that is funded through the Utah Attorney General’s office, to promote safe and appropriate behavior online. Over the next week, students will also complete activities during their computer lab time through NetSmartz to help them learn skills for digital citizenship.

We want to share with you this website as well as some additional resources available to parents through the State of Utah LAND Trust program regarding digital citizenship and online safety for kids. We ask that you take a few minutes this week to talk with your student(s) about online safety. It could be looking at these resources together or as simple as having a conversation with them.

As an incentive for students to talk with you about what they have learned, we are hosting a 30 minute, school wide “online party” (educational games such as Prodigy or coding activities) for all classes who have at least 80% of their students talk with their parents about online safety. To record your student’s participation, please complete this quick survey. The survey needs to be completed by Sunday, December 15. If you have more than one student at Wasatch, please complete the survey for each student. The online party will be held on Wednesday, December 18th in your student’s classroom.
