Wasatch Elementary School

Dear Wasatch Family, Last year for our school-wide service project we partnered with Utah Foster Care. Our school community was incredibly generous, assembling 240 backpacks worth about $12,000 total. We know we made a difference to families in our area and look forward to another year of working with Utah Foster Care to help meet the needs of the children in their program. This year they have asked us to provide games and activities that kids can do with either their foster or birth families to help nurture connections. We will be taking donations for games, and gift cards for activities in the office, and cash via the PAWS paypal account starting after Thanksgiving break (November 29th) until the last day of school before Christmas break (December 17th).

  • Games should be new and easy to transport (no large board games). We need games for a wide range of ages, from preschoolers to older teens.
  • For the activities, they have asked us to purchase gift cards so that the children and their parents can participate in a fun activity. The gift card amount should fully cover the cost of one child and one or two adults (please write the number of activities on the gift card). Ideas include movie passes, bowling, pottery studio, cake decorating, trampoline parks, miniature golf, indoor rock climbing, nickel arcades, museums at Thanksgiving point, art center passes, swimming, etc.
  • Cash donations can be made via the PAWS paypal account ( paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/1996666 ). Last year we recieved a lot of cash donations and this allowed us to buy many items for the Foster Care service project in bulk. All cash donations will be used to purchase either games (in bulk for a steep discount) or gift cards for activities at the end of the service project.

If you have any questions about our service project, please contact either Carlee Dynes (carlee.dynes@gmail.com) or Joy Burton (burton.joyanne@gmail.com). Happy Holidays and Happy Giving!
